TV’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods novel is turning up with the heat with its third episode promising to deliver us the “most pornographic” gay sex act yet to air on TV.

Features

The scene features between Salim (Omid Abtahi) a youngster and a Muslim man in New York along with his mysterious taxi driver (Mousa Kraish) who is secretly a jinn, a supernatural creature from Arab folklore.

The fact that the two characters are Middle Eastern makes the intimate scene all the more powerful.

In an interview between Kraish and Out magazine, he said that the scene “could be a cultural millstone from middle eastern LGBTQ representation.”

The “Superbad” & “Fast and the Furious” star also joked about getting “penis approval” in preparation for his fully nude scene.

Bryan Fuller, the executive producer and co-creator of the show explained that the scene distorted the lie between sexual and spiritual and ecstasy last month at the show’s press event. He and co-creator Michael Green wanted to portray “what it’s like to take a god inside you”

Critics are so far excited about the show’s boundary breaking scene and what it entails. New York Magazine’s Abraham Riesman shared this tweet:

Vice

During his vice interview, Neil Gaiman admitted that he never imagined the explicit scene from his novel could be materialized in television or film.

“I’m watching it, and I appear to be watching the best gay porn I’ve ever watched,” he said,” Gaiman said. “My sampling of gay porn is basically just this, but I’m watching it and I can’t believe they’re doing it. You feel like boundaries are being pushed, and that makes me very proud.”
